A very warm welcome to class Sycamore...
TEACHING ARRANGEMENTS AND CLASS SUPPORT FOR CLASS SYCAMORE
Mrs McDonagh is our class teacher on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Miss Newton-Smith teaches us on a Thursday and Ms Guest on a Friday.
Our wonderful teaching assistants are Mrs Bates and Mrs Page.
END OF DAY ARRANGEMENTS
The children will finish school at 3.20pm. Staff will bring the children out of the year 3 / 4 door at the end of the day and wait with the children until they can see the grown-up who is collecting them. Please would you advise us in the morning, or by phoning the school office if a different adult will be collecting your child. We will be familiarising ourselves with all the parents and carers so please feel free to come and introduce yourselves as this will help with the pickup at the end of the day.
READING DIARIES
All children need to bring their reading books and reading diary to school everyday. The children have a new reading diary to record their reading books in this year. Please record in the reading dairy every time you read with your child.
HOMEWORK
READING- Reading at home should take place daily where possible. However, we are aware this is not always practical or feasible so if they can read at least 4 times a week then that would be fantastic. Children are encouraged to change their books independently. Please make sure your child’s reading book and reading diary are in school every day.
LEARNING LOG – This is homework that is set over a two-week period. It may be Maths, English, Phonics or Topic work based.
OTHER INFORMATION
Please ensure PE kits are in school every day. Every Wednesday we will be going swimming. Please can you ensure that your child brings their swimming bag.
Please label school jumpers with your child's name now Winter is in the air...
Please do not hesitate to contact us anytime should you have any further questions or worries, or if your child is experiencing any problems with work whether at school or at home. Our door is always open…
Here's to a great year of exciting learning...
Spring term
Silly Science Workshop
As part of science week, we were lucky to have a Silly Science workshop. Children learnt about how fire is made and if one of the elements is missing then the fire will not work. We also trapped somebody inside a huge bubble!
