"We have been learning about chemical reactions by putting vinegar and baking soda together." Lauren

"The vinegar and the baking soda made bubbles and gases which made carbon dioxide which caught in the glove and made it inflate." Jake

"It looks like coke and mentos together but in a glove." Rhys

"It was an irreversible reaction which means when you can't change it back." Cody

"The experiment was shocking because I thought it might explode!" Missy

As scientists today, we have been conducting an experiment seeing the effects of carbonated liquid reacting with a solid raisin (or even grape)! We watched and retested to observe the movements and changes happening in our container. We noticed that this experiment combined the use of a solid, liquid and a gas!

Living Things and their Habitats

This half term we will be learning all about living things and their habitats. This will involve looking at living things in our local environment and comparing them to others located around the world. By the end of our topic we will be able to:

  • Observe and compare the life cycles of animals in the local environment with other plants and animals around the world.
  • Describe the differences in the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect and a bird.
  • Describe the life process of reproduction in some plants and animals.
