On the 15th January, we were given the opportunity to take part in an athletics competition held at Dyson Perrins. There were a number of track and field events such as javelin, speed bounce and relay races. The children competed well and were a credit to the school. A special shout out to our 2 x 2 lap runners (Poppy and Mia) and our 4 x 1 lap runners (Florence, Chloe L, Poppy and Mia) who came first in their races.
This half term, we are very privileged to have a student from the University of Worcester working with us. We will be developing our gymnastics and dance skills to develop a performance relating to our Frozen Kingdom topic.
We will also be developing our orienteering skills. In these lessons, we will be able to link our maths, geography and P.E skills in order to be successful in our lessons.
As Swimming is a requirement of the curriculum, Year 5 and 6 will be attending swimming lessons every Wednesday. The aim of these lessons is to ensure that the children can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m and to use a range of strokes effectively. Some children will be given the opportunity to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
This half term, we have looked at developing our teamwork skills through the use of dodgeball. We have looked at using different types of throws and catch and how to successfully defend to be the winning team.
