Oak Class have focused on Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA) and Swimming for the duration on Autumn 1.
In OAA we have had an orienteering course set up around school thanks to enrich education.
The children have spent lots of time developing the map reading skills (inline with the geography outcomes) to read maps of our school grounds and find markers set around the school.
As well as orienteering the children have participated in team building exercises to develop their team work skills and leadership skills.
Every Friday, Oak class have taken the trip over to The Elms school in Colwall to have swimming lessons in their pool.
The children have been split into ability groups. Confident swimmers with Miss Gibbs to practice a variety of strokes and develop more specialist swimming skills. Children that have had some water experience but aren't able to complete a full 25m have been with Chris the swimming instructor from The Elms, and children with low confidence have been in the pool with Mr Swain working on self rescue techniques and developing confidence to swim further and further.
