Within our lessons, children will learn about mindfulness and body awareness. They will learn yoga poses and techniques that will help them to connect their mind and body. The unit looks to improve well being by building strength, flexibility and balance. The learning includes breathing and meditation taught through fun and engaging activities. Pupils will work independently and with others to create their own yoga flows.
It is important that children are wearing the correct clothing for our lessons: they will need either black shorts or leggings, a white t-shirt and bare feet.
This term, the children will continue their 10 week swimming programme at The Elms. Every Friday, the children will have a lesson to help develop their swimming skills, in line with the national curriculum requirements. By the end of Key Stage 2, children should be able to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
