Over the second half term children will be looking at the following areas for Mathematics in Oak Class:
Multiplication and Division
Fractions, decimals and percentages
Geometry
Multiplication and Division
Multiplication and division will be continued from the end of Autumn 1. Children will be confident using the column method to multiply by 1 digit and to use the bus stop method to divide by 1 digit. They will begin to multiply numbers by 2 digits and will be able to divide numbers that will have a remainder.
Fractions, decimals and percentages
Children will have a in depth look into fractions this term identifying equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, converting mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa, comparing and ordering fractions and then adding and subtracting fractions that have the same or different denominators.
Geometry
Just before we break for Christmas, children will look at the four quadrants of a co-ordinates grid and will learn to translate and reflect shapes around the four quadrants.
