Mark-making is the creation of different lines, patterns and shapes. It can be the marks that are made on paper using pencils, crayons or paint, but it can also be marks made by children using their hands and fingers in the sand, a stick in the mud or chalk on the playground.
Mark-making is vital in order for children to develop their skills in hand-writing, co-ordination and creativity. We provide lots of opportunities for mark-making at nursery and we also develop strength in the hands of little ones through the provision of activities such as threading, building with small objects and modelling with play dough.
