The Day the Crayons Quit

Our first text in Summer 1 will be 'The Day the Crayons Quit', written by Drew Daywalt. During this unit, we will be working towards an end goal of telling the story through a series of letters, with a focus on persuasion, in the same style as Daywalt.

The Day the P.E. Equipment Quit!

I have been thoroughly impressed with the children's attitude towards their learning throughout this writing sequence. Last week, it was very dramatic as we had to take on the character of our fed up, overused and disheartened P.E. equipment. Basketball was thoroughly enjoying himself as he knows that he was the favourite (so much so that he has been stolen by another class!) but the same couldn't be said for poor old tennis ball, who has only recently returned from his stay on the roof. The children have been incredibly creative with the characters they have created for each of their pieces of equipment and I have really enjoyed reading them.

This week, the classroom equipment has quit...
